Meet Jenni Furtado

"The fruits of success come from the seeds of hard work" That's what Jenni's mother always told her growing up. And when Jenni moved to Rhode Island to attend Roger Williams University School of Law, she didn’t see herself staying in the Ocean State, but her plans changed quickly. Until moving to Rhode Island, Jenni lived her entire life in New York. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Peru in search of a better life. Growing up, Jenni often didn’t get to see either of her parents for most of the day. Her mother cleaned houses, and her father was a handy man. Her parents worked second jobs many times to help her brother and her get by throughout her childhood. This all paid off, however, as she became the first member of her family to graduate college. And after college, Jenni moved to RI to attend law school at Roger Williams.

Once she made the move, she knew she would never go back. Jenni fell in love with the Ocean state and moved to East Providence after graduating law school, where she lives with her husband (and life-long Townie) Marc.

In 2020, with the COVID-19 Pandemic and construction of the new East Providence High School, Jenni knew it was time to do more for her new home and ran for School Committee. Since then, Jenni has proudly served as the Ward 3 representative and Chair of the School Committee where she helped guide the school district through the pandemic, ensured the new high school finished construction on-time and under budget, and worked with other city and state leaders to secure funding and improve the wellbeing of students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Jenni put in the hard work and the school district saw success. Now, she wants to do the same for District 64.
